About KDT

Kathak Dance originated in the remote temples of North India, where a group of people namely the Kathakaars, danced and sung verses from the great mythological epics. Kathak means “story”. Around the 16th century A.D. this great art form entered the grand courtroom of the Hindu and Muslim rulers. From a devotion and temple rituals it evolved into a dance for entertainment and incorporated into its form spectacular elements such as intricate rhthym, fast pirouettes, brisk movements, and complicated footwork. What you see in Kathak today is the beautiful fusion of Indo-Persian cultures.
