Katha Dance Theatre’s Indian dance-dramas transport audiences to another world. It is a joy to experience the elegance in their productions, choreographic precision, and artistic integrity. Furthermore, their ability to string together current themes in an ancient art form is extremely courageous and praiseworthy.
-The Boston Group, Boston, MA
Katha Dance Theatre has been producing award-winning shows which stimulate the mind and stir the soul for over 25 years.
'Kathak opens the door and offers insight into a culture that is inseparable from its arts! It keeps the body and brain active, improves strength and flexibility and allow friendship to blossom!'
– Rita Mustaphi
The Katha dance group are very spiritual people and have a really calming effect on the participants. I’ve noticed that they do vary their approach depending on client reaction. They are really able to keep the clients engaged and interested, even some clients who normally don’t participate in this type of activity. They demonstrated dance and showed what each movement means. They explained how their stories are handed down the generations through dance.
- Wilder Foundation Staff
The dances were very beautiful and I enjoyed the rhythms, hand and body expressions and music. What we see in the movies is very different from these historical northern Indian dances … Thanks for all your work in keeping your culture alive and sharing it with other cultures.
- Audience member, Grand Rapids, MN
“Katha Dance Theatre is dazzlingly proficient in the dramatic and virtuosic style of Indian classical dance, while being adept of taking English speaking audiences into the literary wellsprings of classical Indian dance performances.”
